WHAT'S BITING?

  • As you know everything in Myrtle Beach is seasonal, including the fishing. March through the first part of April can be sometimes frustrating in the Murrells Inlet/ Myrtle Beach Area.

  • The fishing Really begins to pick up through the mid part of April with the appearance of Flounder and Red Drum. As most people know the fishing can be very dependant on the weather. So as the water temp rises to about 60*F, the better the catch.

  • Late April through Mid December is the best months to go fishing because of the bait. During this time of the year the bait tends to school closer to the shore bringing in larger fish.

  • June, July, and August heat up with climate but also with the fishing. Early morning fishing and late in the evening you will have trouble keeping bait on your hook with all the fish you will be catching. Not to mention all the great music that can be heard from the restaurants located along Murrells Inlet's shoreline.

  • August and September the Spanish and King Mackerel are on the beach and can be caught live baiting along the coast. Many of these great fish can be caugth just inside the jetties.

  • Later in the season Trout and Weakfish become more prominent. Late September to mid November is the best time to fish for Trout as they tend to migrate farther into the inlet.
